This training package provides training necessary for attaining the knowledge required to be a nationally recognised martial arts coach. This training program will provide you with the business tools and advanced training methods and techniques to help you achieve a top rated martial arts business. Learn the skills necessary for implementing group and individualised martial arts training programs that are safe, effective and meet the requirements that have been set by government, community and industry associations.

Recognition and national standards

YMCA's, PCYC's, School halls, Public halls and government facilities require that martial arts instructors are now formally qualified. These qualifications are regarded as the highest of their kind and are not only accepted for accreditation purposes they are now recognised as the new national standard. Satisfy government and insurance issues as well as your legal and ethical responsibilities to the community at large.

 

Training

Your training will consist of a combination of face to face physical training and development, philosophical study of your art, theoretical course workbook study, face to face lectures and home training and study

Long Distance and International members

International Close Quarter Combat Federation members can apply for the correspondence courses without the face to face physical training.

Qualifications offered

This course may be completed in conjunction with your chosen martial arts system or style, with the provision that the student is a registered subscription member of the Defensive Solutions and Close Quarter Combat Federation. The course time frames are an approximate time and can be reduced depending on the merits of each individual.

Time frame: approx 8 months

 

SRS30303 Certificate III in Sport (Coaching)
Specialisation: Martial Arts
Time frame: approx 12 months

 

SRS40203 Certificate IV in Sport (Coaching)
Specialisation: Martial Arts
Time frame: approx 12 months

 

SRS50203 Diploma in Sport Coaching
Specialisation: Martial Arts
Time frame: approx 12 months

What will the course cover?

This course will cover a range of competencies relevent to the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificates II, III, IV and Diploma. Topics include but are not limited to, martial arts theory and practical, community operations, community education provision, law, legal and ethical responsibilities of a coach, exercise science, coaching principles, risk management, emergency response, business and marketing.

About our trainers

All trainers are nationally recognised martial art coaches and hold the relevent trainer and assessor qualifications necessary for the delivery of nationally recognised qualifications. Course trainers also have years of personal industry experience. We have sourced the best trainers so they can pass on their first hand experience and advice on becomming the best coach you can be.


Pre-requisites

This training package has no formal entrance requirements. However basic literacy and numericy is assumed. Applicants must demonstrate competence at a particular certificate level before progressing to a higher level.
(For example the pre-requisite for enrolling into certificate III, is demonstrating competence at certificate II.)

Selection procedures

A free student orientation session comprising a formal interview will be conducted upon receipt of the completed application form.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Recognition of prior learning may be available based on skills and knowledge already acquired by the applicant through previous study or equivalent studies of a similar standard at another institution or from various work, industry and life skills.

AUSTUDY APPROVED

Austudy, Abstudy, pensioner education supplement, work for the dole are available for Nationally Recognised Training courses.

Government funded positions may be available for elgible applicants. Check with you local job network.

 

KENSHUSEI PROFILE –The provider

The International College of Kenshusei is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO id 6930)

The College has a very proud tradition of training students to the high standards necessary to establish a successful career in the rapidly changing martial arts industry. The College was first established in 1995 and is now recognized as the foremost authority in martial arts education in Australia and abroad. The International College of Kenshusei also deliver training courses for other mainstream sporting activities including AFL, swimming, rugby, golf and athletics just to name a few. ICK also offer training and education to clients in the security industry and health and fitness industry.

The literal translation of the term *Kenshusei*, means *special student* and that is exactly what you become when you enter our programs. Classes are kept to a maximum of 16 students per trainer, thus ensuring individual attention from teaching staff, all of whom are highly qualified and experienced tutors. Concern for the individual in both academic and personal development is our highest priority.

The College is able to provide students with a reference at any stage during the course confirming the extent of their progress, the standard of attainment, general attitude and disposition.

Industry partnering

The ICK understand that to become a competent sport coach the trainee must have a clear understanding of the skills and requirements of their chosen sporting discipline. The ICK has partnered with industry by establishing working relationships with various sport and martial arts industry experts, to create an unprecedented educational and career path opportunity for students from most sporting disciplines.
